Another Plus size lady post

My Dson got married this past Feb. and his wife is a PLUS size lady, wearing a size 4X. She wants me to sew her some simple summer pants and tops, as well as teach her how to mend and sew her own clothes. I measured her last week and cut out her patterns, and today I hope to pick out the fabric from my stash and start cutting. She & son will be here Saturday for a cook out and I want to have this ready for her to try on. Just wanted to share! Barbara in SC

It'll be great, don't worry. And she'll love you for doing it. I look forward to seeing pix.

Please introduce her to Coni Crawford patterns, whether through Butterick or Coni's own site

She will thank you for it -- the best line of clothing designed specifically for larger ladies.

It would be more accurate if they actually had line drawings of those garments on "plus-sized" figures. A couple of the photos are of full-figured women, but the drawings are all of anorexic size 2s. :-(

Those illustrations are just dumb. At least with the photos you can extrapolate.

The pix on Connie's own site are better.

The patterns go from XS to 6XL, so there are bound to be some on smaller figures. They make up well, I'm told. I shall have to try some. There is also Sew Grand:

>The msajority of thee patterns are useless to me, as most of them are designedfor a pear-sgaoedd

The majority of these patterns are of no use to me as they are mostly designed for pear-shaped figures, whereas I am decidedly top-heavy - which is why I bought the Wild Ginger program.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions for larger patterns. Barbara in SC "Bobbie Sews More"

But they are sure worth mentioning to the average public, don't you think? Not everybody is going to want to buy Patternmaster Boutique -- just look at the hard, hard time I had convincing Kate to buy it...

And now I love it, and used it for Joy's top pattern! :)

As soon as I have a few spare ££s I'm upgrading my 3's to 4's as well...
