Anyone Have A Good Stabliser Recommendation?

Now that I finally have everything my Elna needs to do some embroidery work, the missing item in my sewing kit is a backing/stabiliser.

From research and Ms. Ahles book, have narrowed choices down to a few tear away and water soluble but wanted some "real life" advice. Badgemaster looks pretty interesting, but many say it does not rinse easily and leaves a sticky residue. Vilene is another option, but kind of pricey.

Mainly need something for backing machine work on fine cotton and linen fabrics (bed and table linens weight).

Suggestions gang?

I've been getting some reasonably priced, high quality stabilizers from Allstitch. They have all manner of cut-aways, tear-aways, tear/wash-aways (lol yes really!), water solubles, etc. They also have good prices on quality needles. I usually buy by the roll instead of in pieces since I'm not embroidering 1000 hats at a time or anything like that.

Recently, I've been using their Ripstitch soft (tear/wash-away) not only for some embroidery but for very thin knit gloves (I've had a hand condition for some time due to a recently discovered profound vitamin D deficiency & thyroid condition). I trace the outline (i use a cardboard template) of my hand onto the Ripstitch, pin it to my double layer of cotton lycra, and then stitch. Once they are securely stitched, I cut them out and remove most of the stabilizer. The rest comes out in the wash. I'd never be able to get such even narrow (2-3 mm) seams without using a stabilizer. AllStitch has a sample pack btw.
