Anyone Sewing For The Holidays?

That would also be the case for me, and the estimated

*additional* cost for the AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL is $2,000. *per eye*. That's a lot, but not much more than I was budgeting to pay for Lasik, so I'm still doing the research. NAYY,

"Pinkies" are anyone under age 50, and for the big 5-0 there's a ceremony called "red-uation." This is sortof like a "flying up" in Girl Scouts.

Speaking of which, I was only a GS for a couple of years. There were "too many" girls in the fourth grade so two of us were put in a troop of fifth graders. (I skipped 2nd grade, so I was two years younger than these budding princesses.) When they all graduated to junior high, suddenly there was just enough room in the then-fifth grade troop for the other girl, but not for me.

Red Hatters are a lot like GS, except that everyone can drive themselves to events, and alcohol is sometimes a factor. And ya know what? Some of the same stooopid snarkiness that permeates grade school comes along, despite the years of age and supposed wisdom. (One "queen mother" licked me out of her group "because you haven't attended any outings in three months." This was a rule she implemented and enacted in one day (i.e. with no warning).

Recently, at a parade (I ride my purple bike when we do these), the group was lining up with the various male politicians for photo ops. Another queen handed me a camera. I said I planned to be in the photo. "You can't be, because you're a pinkie." My own QM put me in the front row for that picture, and put her arm around me. Later I was trying to make conversation with another woman from the group, and mentioned that I usually don't ride my bike "dressed like this" (i.e. lavender, grease-attracting pants). "We do!" she exclaimed. I looked around, baffled, not seeing any bike near her. Just like the badge-earning competition in GS.

Happy to have found a nice chapter with fun people. This summer we had a Hawaian luau, and a couple weeks ago I did a square dance for a large chapter on the other side of the state. Sewing and crafts fits right in, too.

My folks both had this done, and IIRC they each had two surgeries on each eye. My mother's last touch-up was in summer of 1999. I asked about that, and she said that if there was nothing else she could do, at least she could watch birds and see flowers. (Not to be morbid or anything!)

Another advantage: the cataracted lens has a yellowish cast, which goes unnoticed until the new plastic one comes on-line. Hey! Suddenly colors are bright and beautiful again!
