Good fabrics for the price, good service, I hear from those who use them regularly.

I asked about

as they had solicited me to do some sort of US agent work for them. (At least, that's what the e-mail address stated). Referred the message to a friend who needs a family-friendly job.

If these are Nigerian-style scam artists, they have to be the, um, most unenlightened folks to ever walk the planet. The contact told Friend he's send the application for work. Instead he had a check sent. (Four figures, from someone in Florida, written on a legit bank.) Friend and I discussed. $3000+ is a boatload of fabric. And why on god's green earth would they have a check sent to another person in the same country?

He still hasn't provided anything like "to relieze spechal boatload of fabric four Yourself, kindly remit $xxxx to cover customz and handing fees." (But the gammar and spelling in the original correspondence is about like that.)

Comments welcome. Friend has no plans to try to cash the check.

Mel> This is a classic Nigerian 419-type scam.  Sorry.  Run, don't walk.

I completely agree.  You need to tell your friend to contact the state attorney general's office.  They will either already know about this group, or they need to be informed of it!

I believe this qualifies as mail fraud, and should be reported to the postal inspector's office. If they sent the "check" through the U.S. mail, the postal inspector will be interested.
