Anyone working with rhinestones?

I posted a little while ago wanting to find an adapter for size ss20 rhinestones for my Brisk Set tool that attaches rimset rhinestones. I did order the adapter and have received it. I tested it out on some scrap fabric and it worked just fine. The rhinestones are attached from the backside of the fabric. In thinking of what I want to do in the future, it will be tricky to get everything lined up just right and spaced just right when working from the backside of the fabric. To attach the rhinestone you put it in the rim and place rhinestone and rim in a little cup, upside down, place fabric wrong side up over the cup and depress a plunger that slides down into the cup and bends little legs to attach the rhinestone/rim. I sure can't see exactly where the rhinestone is going to end up on the fabric because the cup is in the way. But I see many garments with rimsets done very nicely and wonder how people get them so perfect. Anyone have any experience in this area? Cheryl

i haven't done rhinestones since the 70s (there's an embarrassing Rhinestone Cowboy outfit in my past...), but what i did was to mark the *back* of the fabric where i wanted the stones to be. i was doing setting with a tool more like a gromit setter though. lee
