ARRRGH!

I've been working on this dress for a couple of weeks. I'll that was left were sleeves, hems, and a little topstitching. I had the day off so went to put the sleeves in. Both went in remarkably smoothly, then went to finish them off with the serger. No trouble, with sleeve #1 but I cut a giant hole in sleeve #2. I'll go to TSWLTH tomorrow and see if I can find more fabric. But just in case (I have my doubts 'cause there wasn't much left when I bought it) I put a patch over the hole. Not terribly noticeable, but there is a difference between the sleeves.

Any ideas how I can fix this and turn it into a design element. Naturally the hole (and it is BIG) is at the top of the sleeve cap.

TIA.

Maureen,

No ideas...but my heart goes out to you! That is SOOOOO frustrating!

Did the exact same thing with a jumper I made for my neice for Christmas. Cut a big gash in the skirt while serging the seams...!! Wanted to kick myself....went away from it for a day, then picked that entire back portion out...thank goodness the fabric store had more..bought twice as much as I needed, just in case it happened again. =46ortunately it didn't and I made a matching tote with the rest!

Could you use the sleeve pattern top to make a contrast cap at the top of the sleeve??? Don't know what color the dress is, but it would make your shoulders seem wider, and therefore your waist smaller.........that would work for me!!
