Australia - any good T-Shirt material - anywhere!?

Hi folks!

A question for the other Australians in this group...

Is there anywhere left in Australia that sells good quality, heavyweight cotton material, like used in quality brand T-Shirts? And if anyone knows... Where do the clothing manufacturers here buy

*their* T-Shirt material?

Allan.

Now there's two companies with similar names - one is knitwit, and the other is justknit - apparently one of these has closed down it's manufacturing plant and is now just buying junk material from Asia, like everyone else...

Yep, tell me about it. We did buy some from a local store, but they are so thin, it's just ridiculous. If I knew how to make the stuff, I wouldn't hesitate to do it - there must be a huge market for it.

Thanks...

Allan.

Allan, you could try Knitwits - knitwits.com.au - check some of your recent Stitches mag for ads. They do mailorder, not shopfront IIRC, and used to have very good quality fabric. Haven't bought any for quite a while so not sure about now. I think they do swatches, so that could be useful. Also try some of the factory outlets. We have a few here in Melbourne, they can take a bit of tracking down as most don't advertise the fact that they sell to the public. Let me put a dampener on all of that by saying that you may have trouble finding cotton only knits, most are a poly/cotton blend. Good luck chris :-)
