Baby shoe pattern

Greetings, all;

I just spent quite a bit of time trying to find a pattern to make simple shoes for my baby/toddler. Although I did find some patterns, they weren't quite what I wanted, so I finally ended up drafting my own.

The shoe this pattern makes is very similar to some of the commercially available baby shoes with soft leather soles and elastic threaded around the ankles.

In case someone else is in the same boat I was, I've posted the pattern and instructions on my website at

you try this pattern and have comments, I'd appreciate hearing themso I can refine the article.

That pattern looks good: unfortunately mine are long past the toddler shoe stage, so I don't think I'll get to try it out.

I love it, its so cute! I haven't tried it yet, and my kids are too old except the two year old maybe, if she will keep them on lol!

I have lots of friends and cousins who don't have kids yet so this will be great!

Thanks!

Well, fortunately a friend of mine just had a baby! Wasn't that kind of her to go to all that trouble so I could try out the pattern??? LOL I will give it a try next week when my kids are back in school. I'll let you know if I find any bugs along the way. :) Thanks for sharing it with us!

A friend of mine has 3 DC, and believe it or not all married in 2004 and yes, you guessed it: all had babies in 2005. She just began sewing for the grandbabies after 15+ years of not sewing and I am always looking for articles, easy patterns, etc to send her. This one is on its way to her as we speak. I'm sure she will use it and will give me her opinions. Since the oldest of the 3 G-babies is 9 months and the youngest is one week old, the pattern will probably see lots of use. Emily

You make a good point. Would it be more convenient for everyone if I rescaled the pattern so that all of the pieces fit on one sheet of 8

1/2 x 11" or A4 paper?

I appreciate all of the comments people have taken the time to write. If one of you does try this project and runs into problems, let me know.

I'd also enjoy seeing any shoes people make. 8>)

BTW, for those who are looking for a simpler pattern, one that's unlined and doesn't use a casing and is probably ok for kids who aren't walking, there's a bootie pattern at:

Being infertile, no I wouldn't have "guessed it". It always amazes me how fertile women take their (and other's) fertility for granted.

Thank you for posting this. I sent it to a friend who sews - and I will ask her to let you know if she has any feedback! I have dropped $100 on Robeez and Bobux so far, and DS is only two...

Not cousins; she has 3 darling children-thus DC; one daughter and two sons. Emily
