back

Nanny passed away on February second. Her memorial service was last night, and the graveside service was today. She was one of my best friends, we shared nearly everything. She taught me the art of casting a fishing line when you are stanging less than 10 feet away from speeding cars that are going into a resort town. She taught me how to use crab traps from the same bridge. She willingly spent an entire day following me around while I ran from ride to ride (more times than I can count!). SHe accepted my friends as extensions of the family and treated them as she treated me - with love and discipline. She cooked my favorite meal whenever we visited, and which I have yet to figure out how to duplicate.

She taught me how to be stuborn when it was needed and how to relax when needed. SHe taught me how to love and how to like somebody even if you don't want to.

She was the foundation of the family and she will be greatly missed. Yet, every time I look at Rebekah or Thomas, I see her reflected in their eyes.

Larisa, I'm so sorry the lovely person you describe will no longer be an active part of your life, however she has left you with such good memories, she'll always be _in_ your life.

My sincere condolences,

Beverly

My condolences Larisa. It seems so unfair that everyone has to go. Some people seem to deserve to be around longer.

betsey,

You just might have. She stood about 5'2" and nearly always had a ball cap on when she was up there. Also, she would always wear shorts in one of the colors that she liked - forest green, burgundy, navy blue......she got her picture in the local paper more times than I can remember for the flounder that she caught. and SHE never got stuck with a horeshoe crab in her crab trap like I always did!!!

YOu know, I am sick of you and your responses. As we have said before, when you have to respond to ANYTHING I write, don't read what I write and respond if you have nothing nice to say.........

Also, if you read the group regularly, you would have seen that i had posted about going away, and this was just a message letting my friends (of which I do NOT count you one) know that I was back home after saying goodbye to a dear relative.....oh, and next time you want to write to me, spell my name correctly.........

Larisa,

I don't post here often, but I just have to tell you how sorry I am that you lost your Nanny. I lost my dear Grandpa in July of 2000 and I, too, have a beloved Grandma who is my best friend. She is in her 70's now, and not in the best of health. I worry about her a lot.

Hold on to your memories. They will keep you warm during the cold times, and it will get easier. You will never forget, but the pain will lessen and you will be able to think of her and smile.

I was thinking the same thing. I see this Amelia person is already in my blocked senders list, so she must be a repeat offender.

Amelia, who died and appointed you queen of the sewing newsgroup? For your information, anyone can post anything they want in an unmoderated group, be it on topic or not. You are not in charge. This newsgroup has become a community of people who like to sew, but they don't stop being human when they post here.

Why don't you go sew yourself that hood that you probably need to wear in public so that people don't stone you on sight? I am sure that someone as insensitive and nasty as you must be really popular.

Apologies to the rest of the group for going off here. For some reason this little stunt really made my blood boil.

No apologies necessary for me. You only said what I was thinking.

Sharon & Jack retorted :

what is wrong with asking someone who is posting off topic to mark posts off topic? I for one agree, personal non sewing stuff should be labeled as such.
