back at last

Hi all, I have been MIA for a while but I am finally back on line fully.

We had a lovely and well deserved 3 week holiday in Feb( managed to squeeze 15 yards of lovely cotton flowered fabric into my suitcase) but just before we were due to leave my maternal grandmother died. Not totally unexpected as she was 94 and frail, but upsetting all the same. We broke our homeward journey from our holiday for her memorial service which was a lovely mixture of tears and laughter. I spoke of my memories of her. She taught me a lot, especially sewing wise but i never got her quilting bug. She got her part 3 City and Guilds in Embroidery and Quilting when she was in her 80's here is a link to a blog post off what I said

Having had a journey around the south of the Uk from hell we finally got back to France on the morning of the 1st snows in March(12th) , flight was only delayed by a couple of hours and then woke to heavy snow here in SW France the next morning!!! Well really.

Our computer had died in our absence , it was pretty ancient but when we go back it just refused to switch on. Luckily I could email and face book post via my Kindle Fire but newsgroups were not possible nor were posting pictures.

Now we have been back just about 2 weeks I have a new computer that No.1 son has transferred my old drive into so that I still have all my brains such as they are. I am sewing again, I had a lovely day at a market( sewists market) on Sunday where I managed to get a lot of cotton lace for Spring dresses. I just have to run it all under the over locker, wash and iron it it's about 80 metres in all and is really pretty lace on a sprigged cotton instead of plain white as you would expect. As I purchased so much the seller threw in 10 M of yellow brodraie anglais and about 20 + metres of wide white broidraie anglais, result. So I have plenty to play with. I am gearing up for my favourite Spring Flower market at the end of April, just got to get cutting out. Thought I would give you all a heads up in case you thought I had fallen off the planet. Thank goodness for Facebook, and being able to post there via Kindle Fire or smartphone, eh? Been seeing your posts there, you are hard to keep up with as you sew and sew!

It's all washed and ironed now. i have tied it into bunddles. Must do some statues this moring then I have promised myself that I will get lots of cutting out done so that I can sew as and when.

I seem to have an awful lot of admin to do which eats into sewing time. As welll as all the stuff that has built up during the holiday I am chasing compensation for a long delay on our homeward flight and a claim from the travel insurrance for having to switch flights due to the funeral! Both are playing hard ball , nothing new there. Better get back to it. Perhaps the Easter bunny will bring me a couple of hours me time.
