bang a head, not really OT

Well, I finished the nursing top, except for the side buttons on the overlay, and I thought i had finished the Christening gown. Actually, I did finish the Christening gown, but when I got the entry tags for the fair, I noticed that the Christening outfit has to be 2 or 3 pieces! Yikes!!! What to do, what to do???

I have already messed up the bonnet pattern because i was in a rush to get it done and didn't read before I started sewing everything together. However, I will try to get it to look good anyway. DH picked out the pattern for bloomers with ruffles on the butt, that I will try to make (this time actually reading the directions first!).

that is why I am banging my head on the sewing table...argh!

I did get the center blocks cut out for the quilt blocks that I need for a baby quilt that I am entering in the fair as well, adn I even have the name of the quilt....just need to get everything together.

So..do you all think I should just forget the bonnet and concentrate on the bloomers or should I try to get both of them done??

Once these last fair projects are finished, there's my poncho, DSs pajamas, more baby clothes for Rebekah, trying to get the MBR painted, a new dresser built, a new headboard made, straightening the guest room and MBR, and the list goes on and on....not to worry, I am taking naps when I can, and this list is actually to be completed between now and the end of August...anybody want to come and help me???

Personallly, I would opt to make the bonnet and the bloomers. Having the 3 pieces would make it a very unique and eye-catching outfit. I don't know how quick you are with a machine, but if you can manage both, I think you would be much further ahead with your entry.

I would love to come and help you. Just send the plane ticket and I'm on my way!! :-)

You get my super woman award!! Wow, that's a list. I'd go with the bonnet. A bit of fussing should get it made. Use lace to cover mistakes. As to the other stuff on the list, what about sunshine...that stuff CNY doesn't have much of?? Get it while you can.

I also vote for the bonnet. It makes a much more complete looking outfit to the judges. What about making a little slip to wear under the Christening dress if you want three pieces. I have made slips to go under these, very easy, just bind the neck and arm holes or stitch a very narrow delicate lace and then fold over to finish and then make the hem fancy. I've even done slips that had 6"-8" borders that matched the dress. When the baby is held it gives a very lovely finished, full layered look. I personally wouldn't bother with the ruffle butted bloomers (sounds like something a bird watcher would look for LOL). Save that for when she's beginning to toddle around in little sundresses, I think they are so cute! And tell your DH they are called Rumba Pants.

I made some for a friend's little girl when she was celebrating successful potty training. As small ones do, she put her own twist on the name. She'd turn her back to you, wiggle her little bottom and say "RUMP pants!" and then burst into giggles.

I always swore that if I got preggy again, it would be an early spring baby, for just that reason! James was an October baby, and the summer was hell.

LOL....I can actually say that it wasn't New Years Eve.....because we wanted a second child and I had been off the pill for almost a year, I resorted to the online ovulation predictors ......surprise...it worked! DD is due on October 22nd, but we are hoping for a scheduled C-section on the 17th.

Nope, that's the week BEFORE New Year's! Remember, it takes 280 days for gestation, not nine months, but almost nine and a half months.

Bu he could have been four days early. Karen Maslowski in Cincinnati

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Iopted to go with the panties for now so that I can get the baby quilt done. If I have time to get back to the bonnet, I will, but as far as I am concerned right now, the outfit is finished.

Speaking of the quilt.....I started cutting my pieces out and noticed that my background fabrics were all rather dull compared to the center blocks ...so out I went to Walmart and got some really brights fabrics..wahoo!!! Everything looks great now - just got to get everything put together now.

Larisa, dear, the conundrum of Libras is not necessarily that they are balanced people, but that they spend their entire lives (sometimes, but not always) trying to find balance, and sometimes overcompensating wildly.

It sounds as though your father has hit the delicate balance which allows him to remain stable, but the rest of the crew haven't yet. Sometimes it takes years!!!

Sagittarians are a whole 'nother story. My oldest is a Sag, and the other two are Virgos. Don't get me started. LOL

My DD was born on her due date, which took me by surprise because I was convinced she'd be late. It was the hottest week on record in the city I gave birth in, so I'm glad that she decided to be Miss Punctuality and arrive ontime, though it did mess up some of the plans I had for the rest of the week. :)

Larisa, I would be extremely careful of using phrases to describe people such as "Mississippi hick". There may be lots of folks on this group who are Mississipppians and 'darn proud of it' like me. Many of us are well educated with college degrees, Masters, etc. It is never a good idea to insult another state's culture. Emily

I didn't mean to offend...that is what brother-in-law calls himself!!!....Actually, all the brothers call themselves that, except for DH who can't decide if he is a yankee or a rebel - born in Illinois, moved to Mississippi.....talks with a southern midwest accent most of the time. All the boys just refer to me as the yankee city-bred snot....well, I am younger than all of them...but we all love each other. I think really, they were shocked when DH and I married.....I am the complete opposite of the other 3 wives....the biggest shock to the family was that I was born in a northern city, but refer to myself as a farm girl because of the first place I remember living, adn the fact that I twang just like all of them after less than 24 hours in Amory - a town that rolls up the streets at dark, and shuts down completely on Sundays....gotta like that

Also, Larisa, Speaking of October children: Three of my 5 were born in October. One is state tax auditor, one was supervisor in a state DHS office, placing children of Aids patients in foster homes until she recently retired. The youngest DD was a supervising auditor in a large corporation until her DH finished his fellowship in Allergies & Immunology. Now she is a "stay at home" Mom, who is President of the school's PTO, volunteers in DH's office once a week and has so many projects going on, I can not keep tabs on half. One of her DS's is an October child as well. He is an avid golfer(the only 8th grader to qualify for the HS Golf Team) very active in Scouts and their church, plus he finished 8th grade w/a 3.89 GPA of a perfect 4.0. Not bad for some Libras, I'd say. BTW, I am a Sagittarian and my ex is a Gemini. Emily
