Bean Baggery!

The second beanbag chair is sewn all but the hole the beans will go into the liner through (if you see what I mean!).

I'm going to make some cushion covers this afternoon, for my two new big cushions.

I still haven't found that bl**... blessed missing fabric! So I'm nibbling a small amount of very fine dark chocolate and contemplating my zip stash... I need some nice zippery for the cushions.

Well, the beanbag is all stuffed and finished! I just need to drag my trusty carpet dragon down from the sewing room to hoover up the stray balls before I slide over on them! The conservatory floor is slippery enough without this added hazard! I decided against taking the beanbag upstairs to sew, and brought down a nice little portable Elna Lotus to do the last 12" of seam on the inner bag: much easier to do that standing at the cutting table with the whole bag fully supported than struggle up the stairs with it and try to stuff it in the corner beside Lily! Dresses and clothing or smaller projects are fine like that, but this is basically half the size of a sofa!

Next, the cushion covers... :)

You are certainly busy on home projects, Kate. When is your next date with sewing dresses and teaching a sewing class? Just being inquisitive this beautiful morning. It is so pleasant early in the mornings with birds making lots of noise, I do wish I could sit outside with my computer. I sat out on the porch to read the paper w/coffee, but the internet will not permit the computer from being moved from the sewing room. I am looking at the projects I have ready to sew this week. The biggest are the three matching outfits I have already cut for dear GDG and me. I can't reach the patterns to give the numbers right now. Emily

We have a wireless broadband connection, so on batteries DH/s laptop will work quite well on the internet from the garden, so long as he's not too far from the house! :)

Next appointment with the kids is the end of the summer term: back end of July! :) Gives me about 8 weeks to clear the bulk of the wedding stuff... :D

Cut three cushion covers... Just need to rethread the serger and the sewing machine, and away I go!

Done! The male persons went out for a walk and left me in peace, so I just sewed. Now my cushions are all smart! :)

Got help from the group when I was dithering about zipper placement on box cushion covers. Decided to put zips in side boxing, ending flush with corners - easy to insert cushions, and can rotate cushions front to back as well as top to bottom. Covered the ends of the zip-boxing strip with tapered flaps coming from front and back boxing (think envelope sides) and held in place with velcro. Pleased with the results. I need to send special thanks to those who suggested a dacron wrap around cushions - that makes a huge difference. Thanks - Karen in CO

These are just pillow type cushions: big, but not box cushions. I did the traditional zip in the bottom seam thing. I didn't pipe the edges, but I did top stitch them. Smart casual rather than drawing room formal.

I've been making cushion covers about as long as I've been making curtains: on and off for about 35 years! Still boring (compared with wedding dresses and historical costumes!), but they look good when done. :)
