Best PIG Found

PIGS - Projects in Grocery Sacks

These are usually "seemed like a good idea at the time" or "I'll get back to this" projects that were brought home from the store or possibly even started and then stashed with the good intentions of being worked on later. Later being anywhere from a few days to years later. My best PIG. While packing up my sewing room to move I found a sack with the logo of a long since defunct fabric store, Looking inside I found a pair of little green rompers with an elephant appliqué basted to the bib. I was making them for my son who, when the PIG was found, had just turned 32!

Now there's a great thread........."Best PIG found"

Val

So as not to mess up the other thread, I took your advice and started a new thread.

I recently moved 1,500 miles and was therefore motivated to "lighten my load". Sending all remnanants and PIGs (best was a 15-year-old pair of deconstructed pants that fit perfectly - 15 years ago) to charity was a freeing experience. Those PIGs are guilt bags, each a reminder of how over extended I typically am.

Now I can start fresh with new projects and new remnants to save. And I'm sure someone will appreciate the treasure of fabrics and things waiting to be found at the thrift store.

My new, old machine (Singer 401a) arrived yesterday. It is wonderful, clean and everything works.

My new, old Kenmore serger should arrive this week.

I'm going to try to be smarter about starting projects this time. The kind of project that usually becomes a PIG for me is one where I'm stuck. So, I'm going to try to stay within my ability level doing only what I like. This is not for profit and I don't have to be the best seamstress on the block.

My mother in law recently sent DS (aged 3) an aran jumper she had knitted, which fitted really well, she had started making it for DH (aged 34) and only now finished it. Makes me feel that my UFOs are babies !
