bias cut skirt

I would like to adapt my standard skirt pattern to a bias cut skirt and cannot remember how I place the two pieces of pattern on the fabric i.e. which was does the grain go on each as I remembered cutting each piece individually, can anyone please update me as I haven't done it for at least

Dear Liz,

Draw a 2-inch box on the pattern piece, the first side parallel with the original grainline. Then draw a diagonal line through the upper rleft corner, and lower right corner. Extend this line, and this is your new grainline, throwing the whole piece on the bias.

Don't forget to add more ease because the bias cut skirt will stretch longer and skinnier after you hang it for 24 hours. I am not sure how much to add, but I am sure somebody will see this and know!

There was a conversation about seam slippage quite awhile ago here. It seems to me that the factory either didn't let it hang, didn't use wide enough seam allowances, or both. There could be many other things that made it do this. Its too bad you had that happen. I bought a bias cut skirt about four years ago and wore it alot, it didn't fall apart but the print was out of fashion, so I took it apart and used it to make a pattern for more skirts. I think I added about 1/2" to each seam and took about 1" from the hem and it worked ok.
