Bingo Bags

I was told by my niece that all four of my sisters-in-law would love Bingo Bags for Christmas. Would anyone know of a site that would have a pattern? Thanks!

I'm embarrassed to say that I have on rare occasions played bingo with my grandma. The dauber is kind of like a over sized high light marker... its a round bottle filled with translucent ink and a round spongy tip on the end ( kind of like the water applicators for sealing envelopes that the stationary stores have, but a bit taller). It makes a big round spot on your bingo card so you know what numbers you have so far. I don't know where granny bought hers, but I have seen them for sale in Atlantic City, NJ .

Daubers come in lots of different colors. Some people prefer to play the different "disposable" games with the different colors. HOwever, they could also be used to hold cigs, soda cans, change purses, the person's personal plastic chips (used for the recyclable bingo boards)..........

Amen to that, Karen! Years ago, possibly before they put air in tires

*smerk*, I volunteered to drive the bus for the Senior Center to their twice weekly Bingo night at the casino. I have never enjoyed myself so much. My riders were 99% ladies and did they have a good time. When they found out I had never played Bingo before in my life I was given an extensive education. Daubers are a bottle with ink, a sponge type lid and are used to mark the cards. I niavely asked why you need more than one....LOL, silly me. There are new daubers, old daubers, different colored daubers, lucky daubers, daubers given to you by good friends, daubers that have run dry but somehow take on the properties of an old mascara tube and you just don't toss away, the dauber a dear grandchild gave you for Christmas; it isn't the kind you like but was a loving gift, the dauber that 'won the big one'......get the drift? Then there are the Bingo earrings, the hand painted Bingo sweatshirts (usually in a nice pastel or bright purple, almost always with some sort of glitter), Bingo beads on necklaces, bracelets, zipper pulls and shoe laces. There's Bingo cushions, since no matter how much extra padding you have the chairs are hard. The Bingo bags that hang from walkers and shoulders and my personal favorite.....the Bingo Quillow, because "sometimes your knees feel a little draft, dear". On occassion one of the gals would bring along a grand daughter and it was like the entire tribe was initiating her into some wonderful passage into womanhood. This was an entire culture of raucus old old broads that I so looked forward to driving to their games two evenings a week. The second week I drove I got into their Bingo mind set and bought a bag of Hershey Kisses. As I helped each one off the bus I would hand them a candy and say, "Here's a KISS for luck!" One evening a little lady whose hair was tinted the same color lavender as her Bingo shirt gave me a $100 dollar bill, insisted that my KISS was the reason she'd won the $2500 jackpot. I would also like to add that I have never laughed so hard at so many outrageously dirty jokes in my life!

Here is the most important thing I learned about going on the Atlantic city bus trips with granny... when going to the bathroom to look for her, don't yell out "grandma are you in there?" a dozen ladies will respond, even though none of them have their granddaughters with them! ;o)

The bus trips meet at the synagogue where they have coffee and cake, then we board the bus. We play bingo on the way down, and on the way back we watch a movie. I am always the youngest one there. I only go because since my granny started having heart troubles she is afraid to travel alone in case she "gets sick", and I don't want her staying home alone all the time . It's not much of a life!

Hmmm... not with my granny's group. Maybe I'd have more fun if they were a bit more rowdy!

I'm not embarrased about spending time with granny... just the playing bingo part. I'm only 34, I'm too young for bingo!!!! ;o)

No you aren't! I am only 30, and though I haven't played in a while, I used to play quite a bit in my late teens and early 20s! Part of my reasoning was that there was money that could be won, and teh greater part was that i missed my grandmother, and at the place I played, I got adopted by a bunch of ladies who missed their grandchildren.

Bingo's so trendy over in the UK at the moment, loads of places have opened recently. See you're just trendy in another country - you're 7 years ahead of the fashion where you are!
