Brothers LS21251

Anyone have any experience with this machine, good or bad? Sometime the model is show simply as LS2125.

Thanks,

Ray

It looks like it's a "big box store" model. If so, stay away from it.

Would you buy a new car for $79.? A table saw? A wide screen TV? Same thing with sewing machines.

Cheap = Cheap!

Unfortunately with sewing machines that's usually the case. Please read the FAQ written by contributors to the group.

It's on sale at a New Jersey company called National Wholesale Liquidators for $70. Your response suggests that anything sold in a "big box store" is somehow inferior.

That is exactly right. Most low-end sewing machines these days are either VERY light-duty machines (only a few models catering to a vertical market) or practically made to be disposable.

No kidding! We paid $250 for a new sewing machine a few years back that turned out to be a Chinese sailing ship (a.k.a junk). Quoth the raven....

There are some models of sewing machines from some "manufacturers" that are only sold through big box stores, or on-line vendors. Many (most?) of these machines are far inferior to models of the same makes that are sold through independent dealers. They are basically throw-away machines because when their plastic parts stretch or break, there's no way to make adjustments and replacement parts are not available. Some of those machines are very light. That's because they have no frame: the top and bottom shafts, etc., are screwed to the plastic shell.
