Bulky Wooly Nylon

Has anyone heard of this. I believe you can make nice edge finishes with this on the overlocker. Liz

Yes, you can get regular Wooly Nylon or the extra thick which I think is Bulky. It makes beautiful rolled edges with a serger/overlocker. I will caution you however not to iron this as it will melt. Wooly Polyester is the alternative - it can be ironed. Sun

Wooly Nylon Extra. I love the stuff. Its 3 times thicker than regualr wooly, but it also costs 3X as much. It is stronger than expletive deleted. I use it on leather for rolled edges and seams. Most every Roll Edge seen on my site is black wooly extra.

AND use it for seams - especially on fabric that stretches or frays a lot. It comes in bulk/woolly polyester too, as well as some high gloss versions called 'floss', which look excellent on edges.

You know not what you do, posting a web URL on this NG for kilts, and with pictures!

Nice stuff, by the way. Very nicely made. Thanks for sharing! Karen Maslowski in Cincinnati

LOL.. the garment that you are likely responding too was made a long time before I discovered wooly nylon.

I should probably also mention that with Bulky / Extra I can do a nice full roll edge (albiet with the stitch selector on straight stitch) with only a 2mm stitch length. I also run Extra in the needle. It works well for constructing main structural stitshces with leather. (often time two layers of leather and Two layers of 1,000 deneir Ballistic nylon)

About that British equivelent "bulk 80's" is this indeed, the very same (or very similiar) to Wooly Nylon Extra??? IF so.. I think ive nailed down a supplier. 1,500 & 5,000 meter spools... that is exactly what I want. And in the long run it would be cheaper.

Who? WHO?? If this is bigger and fatter than standard bulk/wooly nylon or poly, I want some! Empress Mills just did the standard bulks last time I was there.
