buttonhole discovery

Okay - so everybody here knew this but me. I had to stitch some buttonholes in silk. When I tested the buttonhole I saw that there wasn't enough fabric distance between the left-hand stitching and those on the right-hand return trip to neatly, safely make a cut. So. I went to the stitch width setting and made it wider. How's that for brilliant? It worked very sweetly. Pretty buttonhole and enough blank space inside to make a clean cut. May not work on every sm.
