Calling recent mothers!

There were a lot fewer drivers with a lot better manners and more obedient to traffic laws then than there are now.

Shame that the majority are ruled by the few malcontents/irreverent.

Well, I never tied a knot in the bandana! It would come loose with a tug. But it was great for a young boy who insisted he wasn't a baby - he looked more like a cowboy, or as he said it, "coyboy."

A little common sense goes a lot further than "Baby Safe USA" -- it's still true that nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently determined fool.

Thanks, Beverly, for the bit about the hooded garments w/drawstring at the neck. I was thinking of getting rid of my oldie-but-goodie, long-used jacket and buying a new one, but I like the fact I can "snug-up" the hood. So I guess I either keep this one or make one like it. Emily

That hat is precious! Reading all our posts makes me want to begin sewing more for DS's great grandkids. She has 5, 3 boys & 2 girls. The little one is only 6-weeks old. If you receive Sewing Savvy magazine, there is the cutest rattler pattern in this month's issue; to fasten around the baby's wrist so it doesn't get lost. NAYY. Emily

Oh, I think you can still find hoods with drawstrings for ADULTS. It's the kiddies who have to be protected.

I have a couple of hooded fleece jackets which have the spring-loaded-device (can't remember the name of them) with which you can draw a hood snug. It's only a couple of years old, so they are out there.

Say that five times fast. ;-)

And sadly, the determined fools seems to out-breed everyone else....

I think I have enough ideas to keep me busy and out of trouble for now, thanks! ;-)

Try this one: "rittle plillow" for "little pillow."

Darwin's theory was that it would take care of itself....

Yesss! I think that's a good idea, especially since that will avoid the velcro scratching Baby's neck (which was what the cheap-o bibs did in the beginning when my little girl was much 'littler' and didn't fill them as she does now). I'm not sure, however, if you need to know if mom is left or right handed. I put the anti-droolers on when she's still on the changing table, so that wouldn't matter there. When I'm breastfeeding, I put her to both breasts alternately, so where ever you put the velcro, at one point it will be close to mommy's clothes. As for feeding carrot mush, that is a moment when it might make a difference. Anyway, while you're at it, won't you make some for me, too? (Just joking, just joking!;-))

unless you wear children's sized clothes, don't worry about it. adults garments still have string ties, as adults are supposed to know not to go down the slide with one's hood tied to the top safety rails. lee

There are very strict laws in UK too. But children and babies are still killed while in cars and, I suspect, far more than those killed by tapes on bibs. That was my only point.

AAAAGGHHH NO!!!! The rattle might get CAUGHT on something and dislocate the little ARM!!!

I burnt my forehead once, trying to read an important-looking sticker. The sticker warned me that objects with fires inside may be hot.

You are truly ornery, Joy. But I'll bet you have the heart of a young child. Perhaps in a jar on your desk........ ;-)

I'm trying to picture myself putting a bib with the extended-tab/short-tab style I've dreamt up and I keep thinking that for *me* (I'm right handed) I would like the longer bit to be on the left side of the bib (facing it and the baby) so that I'm fastening whatever fastener there is with my right hand. But maybe I'm over-thinking the whole project... ;-}

Right! You're in Germany IIRC, I think the postage might be prohibitive.

I have burned my nose on the featherweight light... Big Sis (at a tender age) burned the end of hers on the frying pan, trying to see what mum was cooking.
