can i salvage this?

i found a good 3/4+ yard of black fusible interfacing that the cats apparently had confiscated to use as a nap spot. so, it's rather covered with mostly white (& a bit of fuzzy grey) cat hair. can i wash this? toss it in the dryer on air fluff? or just give up & toss it out? on a related note, is there a good way to get cat hair off polar fleece? my fleece blanket & my fleece pullovers are rather fuzzy. lee

I have washed fusible interfacing, by hand, and hung it to dry. I wouldn't put it in the dryer might fuse itself to something else like the dryer.First I would try to get most of the cat hair off with a terry wash cloth or towel. Just brush down in one direction. HTH, Juno

There are rolls of what is essentially masking tape in large sheets with a handle. If you don't want to buy one of these then, take regular masking tape and wrap it *adhesive side out* around your extended fingers of one hand. Spread the fingers slightly, overlap the tape just so there aren't big spaces. When you go to apply the adhesive side to the fabric close the fingers together slightly and then sweep your hand across the fabric. The tape should roll around your fingers but not too loosely. Hope this helps, AK in PA

I like that, the idea of the cats 'confiscating' something! :-)

I guess the things are still around if you know where to look, we have a 'bizzi brush' of many years vintage, bit like one half of velcro tape. It 'works' in one direction only, and is excellent for removing anything like fluff, cat hairs, etc. Use it in the 'wrong' direction and it deposits all the fluff onto your clothing! Used it on all sorts of materials, fabrics.

some of mine do, to the point of dragging the item to a more suitable location for *them* :) this bit of interfacing had been secreted between some boxes in my room, apparently for quite a while judging from the fuzziness ;) since i try to keep all fabric type things in closed storage boxes (to prevent the fur problems as much as possible. i have

6 indoor cats, down from 11) some enterprising feline must have hidden it a few months ago at least. my last sewing jag was mid-winter & i've been beading & knitting the past 2 months or so (balls of yarn tend to disappear around here too)

hmmm. i used to have one of those, and 2 tape rollers... i wonder where they've gone off to? i think their disappearance can be placed with Small Boy though. thanks all lee

I wouldn't put it in a dryer. If it comes out of the washer wrinkled, you can block it: spread it out on a flat, smooth waterproof surface and let it dry. If it won't lie smooth, dip it in water, spread it out, then pat with a towel to take up as much of the water as possible.

Hello,

Have you considered wrapping some packaging or masking type tape that decorator's use, sticky side out, around your hand as a glove to pick up the pesky hair?

Some craft and homewares stores in Australia also sell lint brushes which do the same thing - have sticky tape that can be rolled over the cloth or clothing to collect stray hairs, etc.
