Can you help us? (UK)

I'm looking for a source of fabric in the UK that is cheap and can get here fairly quickly! It's Black Pinstripe suit fabric. Now, the ideal situation is that someone has some lying about that they don't want and desperately want to get rid of (and we'll refund the postage costs...) but otherwise, does anyone have a secret source that's not £10 and upwards a metre? It's doesn't have to be good quality, it's for the production I'm working on and we're having trouble getting hold of some. Croft mill haven't come up trumps this time. Here are the details:

Black Pinstripe Suiting Fabric

45" wide fabric: 3 3/8 yard or

60" wide fabric: 2 5/8 yard

Thanks for the help,

Charlie.

Try Croft Mill and Hartley's Mail Order (on my Fabric List) and RING AND ASK, mentioning the all important 'student production' stuff, as they may have shorter lengths you can use but they don't have enough of to put in the catalogues. In their last list, Hartley's had a nice brown poly suiting in a herringbone weave (not striped, but the weave might be good) @ 3!.75 per m or £9.85 for a 6m length. Tap into Croft for suitable fusible interfacing to use with it (not worth the time and expense of hair canvas, and fusibles work better on poly suitings anyway).

I always get the mailings from these two as they are so good at this stuff at seriously good prices.

Thanks for the advice about Hartleys, I didn't try them. I asked croft mill if they had anything, and they said, nope, nothing at all. No pinstripe! Can you believe it - they ALWAYS have it!

But I found someth>

I haven't seen any pinstripe in the Croft list since before Christmas, but it's always worth an ask! :)

I know about Kleins - already order from them occasionally. Very fast service, nice folk to talk to. Their cover buttons are fine, but not like the ones I was looking for. After I've done the brodesmaids, there will be an update to this page - hopefully a whole new look to one or two of the information pages! New companies added to the list, dead ones removed, etc.

Charlie,

Are you still in Wales? If you are anywhere near North Wales, go to Greenfields (on the coast raod - the A548) and go to Aberkhans.

They have all sorts of 'seconds' at very good prices, and last time I was there, I think they had some pin stripe suiting (could well have been a poly / lycra mix though rather than good quality suiting).

I don't think they do mail order though.

Yes, next time I'm home for more than a few days and I have some spare cash, we're going. I also want to hit the bead shops in London for my new, rapidly expanding business venture!
