Cashmere sweater make-over

One of DH's aged and venerable cashmere sweaters has a largish hole in the bang middle of the front. Not something I can patch successfully......

I thought about cutting it up and making something.........maybe for one of my DGD's they are ages 8 and 3........

Is it terribly difficult to sew this sweater knit? What are the tips??

Do you have any good ideas how I could use it?? It is light grey, and soft as a cloud.......

A shrug for one of them, or both if you can manage? They are really in, or at least they were last month. I bet they would like that.

Pat,

I think shrugs would be cute too! There's an article in the January Threads about sweater knits.

might see (next time you cruise through wally world) if you could pickup a copy. The website has a "preview" of the article. Sounds like itwould answer everything for you. (I need to get this too. I've had somereally cute sweater knit stashed for a while. Been intimidated by it totell the truth. lol) Sharon

We machine knitters sometimes knit "fabric" to cut. Lay out your pattern pieces on the knit fabric, mark the edges, then use your sewing machine to stitch around the cutting line and the fabric will not unravel. Cut outside the stitches, of course. ;-)
