Christmas Sewing: unexpected

Getting ready for a New Year's/belated Christmas party: I was *sure* I had seven gift bags! (The seventh bag turned up later, and has been put away for next year.)

This yellow cotton-broadcloth remnant will do: tear off a piece, fold it in half, zap around two sides with whatever the machine is set for, turn the other side out, tie a green ribbon in a clove hitch: festive enough.

But one of two sides I planned to sew together was half an inch longer than the other, so I ended up drawing a thread to make a substitute for a paper bag!

And I'd unthreaded the machine after my previous job, so I selected matching thread.
