Closing bottom of separating zipper

I am makning a tote bag that calls for a closed bottom zipper, but I bought a separating zipper by mistake. What can I do to make this into a closed bottom zipper?

I don't know of anything you can do to make it into a closed bottom zipper, other than using a needle and doubled thread to whip the two sides together just above the base, which shouldn't be too obvious if your thread is a good match. However, I've used separating zippers in several of the Lazy Girl bags I've made, because I liked the look of the teeth, and they've worked out fine. Unless they're unzipped absolutely all the way, no separation occurs (of course) and it's no problem to stop short of that point when opening the bags I've made.

Good luck with your tote bag!

needle and thread works find, or you can buy a metal bottom stop from Seattle Fabrics.
