Beats me. I have a hard time remembering who said what. But at this point in my life, nothing on Usenet has bothered me as much as it seems to bother other people.

Hey Everyone!!

let's all call is quits here. larisa is understandibly stressing (as would anyone else in such a situation)...and, despite what anyone may or may not think of publicly airing one's linen, it is her right. at least in the US, last time i checked.

we can all call each other names, or we can all play nice. as someone who reads this newsgroup to gain insight into sewing, i would appreciate it if we could back to that......

now, all go to your respective corners! only come out when you can say something pleasant, or sewing related! (and, ill make this sewing related...i finished a baby quilt for a friend's first granddaughter today...YIPPEEE!!)

Well, that's it -- you are plonked.

You forgot to mark this OT, you also forgot that you could email Larisa privately and ask that she marks her threads OT, and also forgot that you could ask this in a reply to the original post, not create a new thread that would not only grab her attention but everyone elses as well. Funny that. Asking people for some more politeness when you dont appear to have much yourself kind of makes your whole argument completely redundant.

Did I? Ooer! ;) We used Front Page to make the web site - very straight forward. I even managed to import a picture to use as the background on the Romeo & Juliet page.

Did you miss the post where that was exactly the advice someone posted to CNY? Really nice considering she's only days from confinement...

Let's all go sew something and leave this be.

It's the same cheap shot that several of these oh-so-"helpful" posters have taken at her--sounds to me as if they can sure dish it out, but not take it, eh?

Look, I'm mainly just a lurker here, which means that I wield no authority, moral or otherwise, in this group whatsoever, but I've been on Usenet for 10 years now, which is long enough to have pretty much seen it all...and everytime I worry that I don't have enough of a life, I can just hop online and see that there are many, *many* people who are far worse off than I in that category (and I'm not necessarily talking about Larisa here). It's one thing not to care for someone and not want to read their posts, but the sniping and cheap shots (and inability to take it in return) are another thing, and when you decide to Google someone so you have a figure of how many times they've posted, and then start broadcasting that around in an attempt to--what, shame her into leaving Usenet?--then IMNSHO that's the sign of someone who's getting either overly involved, overly self-righteous, or both. (She might want to think about posting to a pregnancy group, simply because there'll be more women who've been there and done that with whom to sympathize; but if you're a friendly regular on a newsgroup, and most of your posts have been reasonably well-received, then you tend to think of the other posters as friends or at least sympathetic acquaintances; and it's only human nature to prefer to go to those you already know for aid and comfort.)

If you don't want to read CNYstitcher's post, then *don't*--that's what killfiles are for; mine gets quite a workout these days (much easier on the old blood pressure that way). Unless someone is being out-and-out abusive of online protocol and/or basic standards of human decency, (and believe me, I've seen plenty of violators of both, including someone who decided to hunt down a "foe"--whose only offense was to call her on being an asshole to a 3rd poster--on Live Journal, copied said foe's account of a physically and emotionally painful abortion, and decided to use it as her Usenet sigfile; yes, her ISP has been informed of this), however, they do have the right to post what they like to an unmoderated newsgroup; and those who are most indignantly defended might want to consider setting up alt.sewing.moderated in the future. The lack of overseeing authority is both the greatest strength and greatest weakness of Usenet, IMHO--people are on their own to Play Nice, and while most do, some don't; and it's always interesting to see who does which while hiding behind the mask of online anonymity.

I am happy to be an American. Nowhere else could a Jew with a giant nose engage in tongue play with an African American with a fabulous tush after winning an Academy Award on live television for playing a Holocaust survivor and not have someone declare a holy war against us.

If that happens she might end up pregnant. So, since this is really getting nasty. Please stop, both of you.

It only helps if you get laid the 'right' way. If you don't, it just makes things worse. Then, of course, there's the possibility of getting pregnant.....
