Compression vest/ Weighted blanket for Autistic Kids

One of the things to remember w/ a weighted vest is that you don't want one that the weight just hangs at the bottom of the vest. It's much better if the weight in the vest starts at the shoulders. One of the options for making a vest that doesn't look like a therapy tool is to buy a vest a size or 2 larger than what the child needs and attach the weighted lining. A jacket will also work as you can turn it into a vest by removing the sleeves or just leave it as a jacket. I have made my DD 3 vests so far and no one would know that it's a therapy tool. She is in 2nd grade ... so that kind of thing is important to her right now.

I don't know anything about this company ... I just wanted to show you a pic of the types of therapy vests that I'm talking about. I use weights not filler, that is what works best for my daughter.

best i've found, so far. i'd like to find pellets in 25 pound cartons, like poly fill comes in, but haven't yet.

nope. they spend all the donations on the officers & on lobbying Congress to 'find a cure'. they want to blame autism on *something* other than the most likely cause, which is genetics.

a pound is a pound. i know when you make weighted vests, you want to make inserts that weigh 1/4 pound each, so you can add & subtract to get the weight that works best, where it works best. you could do that with the quilts, i suppose, but i suspect it's more trouble than it's worth. lee

Not sure if you will get this but my son has sensory issues and his occupational therapist recomended

the weighted vest for him and we found out about compression shirts . They sell them for sports and not sure if you could get

them in that small of a size but they have really helped my son and he loves to wear them. I would get \

them a size smaller than he usually wears in clothes and it gives him the pressure he craves . Hope that this helps
