CROSSPOSTED: today's update

well, I say the doctor again today. I thought my appointment was at

2:45, but it was a 2...fortunately, they were still able to get me hooked up to the monitor.

Good thing is that there were no contractions this time around. Bad thing is that the meds she had me on really messed me up...apparently I got nearly every one of teh side effects. My description was like being permanently stuck in the manic phase of manic-depressive. My 3yo DS was scared of me, I was scared of me, and Rebekah hasn't been moving around as much. Basically, I told that doctor that if she didn't give me another option, I would help her find a place to stock the dang meds...but more politely than that cause she's a great doctor.

She told me that I didn't have to take it every 4 hours anymore, but not to throw it away. Now, I only have to take 1 pill if I have the hard contractions that cause pain and numbness down into my legs...woohoo!!!!!

I told her that I was stopping the Claritin because my ears were still clogged and I could barely hear anything. Said I was going back to my Dayquil, which she said i could do since it seemed to help.

Now, on the down side.....she showed my the last bloodwork results. My iron is so low that she told me if I didn't start taking the prenatal vitamins *and* the iron tablets 2x each day, I would need a blood transfusion after the c-section. She reminded me that, while they screen blood fairly rigorously, that doesn't mean that it will be completely clean...okay, enough of the friggin scare tactics already!!

So, I get to go back to my breakfast routine of:

2 colace tablets and a prenatal vitamin with a large glass of water, raisin bran with 1/2 a cup of coffee and more water, iron tablet with a glass or orange juice.

the rest of the day is pretty much the same: lots of water throughout the day, healthy lunch (thankfully, I am more attracted to fruits than salted chips or anything else), glass of juice. Around 2pm, another prenatal vitamin and iron tablet with juice. Dinner with water or milk (if I can stomach it, which I haven't really been able to do). More water, bed around 11pm at the latest..........repeat the following day until the 10th, when I am not allowed to eat anything...actually nothing after midnight of the 9th.

And there you have it....with luck, this will get everything straightened out and on track to help me make it to the 10th of October. I have called my parents, and we are going to split up the visitation. Dad is going to come up first so that there is pne person who can focus on helping me and Rebekah, and one who can focus on taking care of DS. Most likely, the day that Dad leave will be the day that Mom arrives (she is a teacher, and her boss already made the schedule based on the original date of the c-section). Mom will be here for 5 days, Dad might be here for a little over a week.

DH only has a week of paid leave available, and somehow, I thought he had been saying that he had 2 weeks, so this actually helps me feel not so upset at him......Now, if only I knew what Mother's plans were and if my MIL was ever going to come up and visit.

What would be really great is if I could cycle all of them through here one right after the other so that I had about a month of people here helping me....however, I don't think that will actually happen.

And that is today's update!!

Good for you on recognizing the ridiculousness of all the drugs and the reality of doctor's scare tactics - you know better most of the time - just listen to your body!

Especially if you use tomato or other high acid foods in them. Buy a big fry pan..season it well... us it for heating up everything that will fit! No need to replace the whole kitchen. Diana
