Direction for turning hand wheel?

Masking tape attaches itself permanently rather quickly, in my experience. I never use it unless I mean to take it off within hours.

I haven't had masking-tape glue to remove since I learned the Crisco trick, though: a lot of stuff that doesn't come off with water lets go after a few hours in grease. I call it the Crisco trick because shortening will stick to spots that's it's inconvenient to soak in oil. (And what else would you do with the stuff? Certainly one wouldn't eat it! :-)

Joy's right...masking tape is nasty. I do collect sewing machines, and one of the hardest things to get off is the tape people put on the SM beds! Yuck. Collectable or not, tape deterioriates over time and falls apart..or, you (or the subsequent owner) may decide you don't like the tape there, .but the residue remains...and the residue will drag your fabric.=20

To remove masking tape from a sewing machine spray the area liberally with WD40 let it soak a while most of it will wipe right off. It it is real hard I use, very carefully with a fresh application of WD40 a single edge razor blade and gently scrape it up. Be careful not to gouge the finish.
