I have a Husqvarna Viking Designer 1, with VIP Customizing Plus Embroidery system which uses a pink Hasp dongle. I'm searching for a replacement dongle since my has gotten damaged and does not work in my computer any longer.

I only do home embroidery, gifts for my grandkids, so would like to be able to get the designs off of my computer, which is what the dongle is for. I would appreciate any info that anyone can give me. The company quit making these dongles and does not support this software any longer, which is a shame after we invested in this machine, even though that was 8 yrs ago. This machine has to last me a long time.

Anyone? DS

These are as hard to find as hens teeth as anyone who has the software must have the dongle, and it needs to be sold along with the dongle in order for it to work.

It sounds as though you haven't upgraded embroidery software since you bought the machine, so may I suggest you purchase a non-Viking product that does not require a dongle to run. I use Embird and LOVE it.

You can get the basic program, which allows for managing files and resizing (but not digitizing) and for moving them from the computer to the floppy, Amazing Box, or USB stick.

And it's only $144. Then you can add any other 'module' you want (such as Studio) whenever you want. A lot less than the very expensive Viking software, the upgrades are cheap (and sometimes free) and the support is great.

I also have the D1, as well as the Rose and 1+ and use Embird with all of them.

:So, I am new to this site and only now, found your post to answer myquestion. Thanks for your input. You are right, I have not upgraded thesoftware, since it's spendy to do so. I'm not familiar with Embird. Is it an embroidery program for the computer, which allows you to download designs? Would I be able to access the designs I already have filed? Also, would the designs be compatible with my machine? Sorry I'm so uninformed about all of this. The lady I bought my machine from lives in another state and has since quit selling machines and gone to only a fabric store. Another question, do you use your dongle with your Designer 1?
