Elna Grasshopper my lovely oldie

I've just brought it in, a lovely Elna. It sews like a quality Swiss watch. No matter it sews only one stitch, two directions, but the speed is slowly to quick, handling by a knee, no foot pedal at all, what a hit! Made in

1950! It's a jewel. Very small, a candy....

BUT What to say to DH, if he complains about a museum article? I wan't'start a museum at all. How can I deffend myself? How do you deffend yourself in the same case, who here have the same kick of an old sm? How should I explain it to him? BTW he himself owns 4 guitars, playing The Shadows hits every day, is it an idea for an example? I can't get the picture of it, but this picture is almost the same

You shouldn't have to defend yourself.........if he says anything just say "would you deny me food to eat or air to breath? No, I didn't think so, because I can't live without them.........well guess what.......I can't live without this either!" Add in a "So There" if you wish.

or maybe somebody has something less harsh to say.

They are rather good, aren't they! personally I prefer the Lotus, but each to our own...

I find no defense is necessary: I just smile sweetly when mine complains about the 10 I have (all different!), and say, 'It's a good job you love me, isn't it!' He knows there are one or two more machines I would love to own, and that I will be patient and get them when a good one comes my way.

Easy. "But honey, you have more than one guitar..." Accompany with you're very best innocent yet puzzled expression.

I am sure your DH has many tools, different ones for different jobs. Even the guitars can be viewed that way.

This is no different. A light portable to use on the porch, at classes, while traveling, etc.

Admittedly, that argument is a little harder to make fly if one has 50+ vintage machines :)

Tell him it makes you happy just looking at it; sewing with it , even happier.

A big conquest, victory on my site! Today my dear hubby have asked me if he was allowed to buy another guitar! I'm happy as can be. I forgive him for his comments about my Elna. He has to show the way out for his 2 old guitars. How long wil that take? After all, I'm convinced the problem is solved.

Yesterday I've made a new pillow with a nice cord on it. Simple stitches on the Elna, but the cord on my Bernina QE 150 with a special presser foot, of course.

Thanks anyway gals, you are a big support to me! Suzan from Amsterdam

In article , Pampeliska of uttered

Just show him how much the case resembles an ammo box? (And yes, it was made in an arms factory)

I've got dozens of machines from 1874 onwards - but perhaps you'd better not mention that ....
