Is there anything comparable to silky fleece for a child's furry soft bear costume???

I just used fur fabric for James's lion costume. Mind you, that *was* for a school play in the UK in the middle of winter! he was toasty whereas all the little girls who were angels and fairies froze!

If it's hot were you are I'd think a thick loopy terrycloth would work, if it's cold I'd use polar fleece or fake fur.
