Hrm - most good historical patterns don't come in kids sizes, cuz they grow out of them so fast. You might be best looking at the "costume" patterns, and then modifying them to make them more accurate - moving a few seam lines and using not-costumey fabrics.
Boys wore chemises until about age 6 and then they were dressed as miniature adults. There was no concept of "kids clothing" until the
18th century, I believe.
So a shirt, knee-breeches (take a pants pattern and cut it short, then add on a knee-band that buttons), and a jerkin-y thing (a plain vest with added epaulets) is probably the way to go unless you want a little courtier.
