Feeling Ripped Off!!!

I purchased the Elastic Wizard set on eBay which they claimed to be "new, factory sealed" When it arrived it was missing the Wizard foot, so it was just a set of the elastic guides, which is totally useless by itself. I paid $15.00 to ship this little thing and had ripped open the packaging (before I realized the foot was missing). Now the seller says they will only refund if I return it in the original condition, but I have obviously opened the package. Plus, they will only refund my bid price, not the shipping, and I will have to pay shipping to return it! AHHHHH!!!!

Sorry to vent but I'm hopping mad! Peggy

Vent all you like. :) We all need to vent sometime. Keeps the tops of our heads from blowing off.

Be sure you leave comments on Ebay too. I know I really pay attention to comments other buyers have about sellers. I'm sure others do too. And if they are selling incomplete products, other potential buyers will want to know that.

Sorry to hear about this. If you get no further with the seller, you might wish to apply for a dispute resolution thru eBay's site for "significantly misrepresented item". Also If you paid with PayPal, there is a buyer protection program you should look into. It's all on the eBay site under "Services".

I got ripped off once; unfortunately I dealt with a scam artist, who deleted their entire eBay and email identity after he'd scammed several people out of hundreds of dollars... there was no way to get my money back or for eBay/PayPal to track this person. They even had the gall to go as far as obtaining an authorized Seal of Approval to con people!! ugh!

If you paid by credit card, maybe you can do a charge-back.

What exactly is a charge-back Ann? I'm not familiar with this. Is it similar to stopping payment on a cheque?

Thanks, Peggy

If you contact your credit card co., I'm sure they can help you. I'm only familiar with it through hearing about other people's bad ebay experiences (knock on wood).

I saw the elastic wizard at Walmart for 12.96 last weekend! The ribbon one too.....

Before taking further action, was it new, factory sealed? Did the auction list all parts? Is it possible that this is just the add ons for the foot? It wouldn't be the first time something like this sold on EBay. Unless the ad clearly misrepresented the product, you may have no recourse.

I'm in Canada and none of our stores carry it, including Wal-Mart.

They claim it was brand new and factory sealed, and it did arrive sealed. However, the slot where the foot normally goes was empty. When you look closely at the auction photograph you can see it's missing. However, it's also obvious that they tried to hide the fact that it wasn't a complete set. I agree that I probably have no recourse because if you read all the fine print they omit any mention of the foot.

I guess I'm out 30 bucks and still have no Elastic Wizard. Maddening!

It couldn't hurt to ask the manufacturer why your sealed set didn't come with the foot....

Ebay auctions are good for that kind of thing. I saw an empty box go for over $1000.00 once because, the way it was worded, it lead you to believe that what had originally come in the box was still in it. They never actually made that claim though. I would suggest getting someone on this group that you trust to go down to Wal-Mart, get the foot, and mail it to you.

Don't blame you for being hopping mad! I would be, too!=20

We don't usually think about shipping costs as part of the total price, but it really is! - Irene=20

I just contacted Wizard Attachments to ask that very question!

WOW, I don't feel so bad now. Imagine paying $1000 for an empty box!

I would think the seller would be watching his back for a while.

AHHHHH!!!!

I saw them in Wal Mart in Sarnia Ontario Canada, last night. The foot was seperate and different for each machine model. They were $19.00+. Unless you order from the company the foot is usually seperate, just the attachments are in the box.

I would certainly complain to E-Bay.. I have personally had several ecounters of varying incompetence with items purchases at E-bay... Hopefully if enough users complain they will improve their customer service...

In Australia, when a customer asks for a charge-back on a credit card payment, they are effectively telling the bank they did not receive the item or service they paid for and the charge made to their account was fraudulent.

The bank in turn charges the seller of item/service the amount paid by their customer, the card holder. A basic investigation by the bank occurs, normally finds the seller gave misleading info or incomplete or faulty products. The bank or VISA corporation, etc then reverse the charges back from the receiving account hence "charge-back".

Sorry for the long winded reply.
