First pillowcase dress done! Link to pic!

Its finally done! YEY! Baby wanted to help make it, so it took forever, but while she wasn't helping I made a twin to the dress, it didn't take very long at all. I took a pic of that one, unfortunatley I only loaded it to my etsy shop, so if anyone wants to see you have been warned that this is a link to my store, sorry I just didn't want to use photobucket this time! I used my own tutorial for pillowcase dresses, found here:

did put elastic in the underarms just for the fun of it! Anyone who wants to use the tutorial can figure it out easily. I also made a diaper cover for both dresses, I can make a tutorial for that too if anyone wants! Thanks!

Gorgeous outfit and very well made from my point of view. My DGD, who is 6, would live the dress with regular panties to match, and she would probably want a bag of the same fabric to carry her stuff; she loves bags.

Oooh, Bags! Great idea. I think the next item to go up on etsy will have a matching bag! Its going to be a circle skirt with netting underneath, for kids aged 4-7. Thanks!

O this is the coolest, thanks for the link to the instructions. I have several pillowcases here that have hand-tatted or crocheted lace on the edges. May have to make a couple of these. :)

The fabric was on sale for $3/m, and I only used 1/2m, and yes my price is a little bit low, but hopefully I can find my niche in childrens clothes, since that is what I do best, and gradually get people hooked.........and then..........well you know how it works, prices gradually increase. Don't worry, I didn't undercharge, I just didn't charge profit on top of wage this time.

Thanks!!!!!

Etsy is THE place to buy and sell all things handmade!!! I am not sure what beta means, but its been around for awhile now and has probably thousands of sellers. you can see for yourself at

(sorry everyone, this is a link to a store of sorts, I am breaking the rules - holds out wrist to be slapped). Some people do really well, party because of product, also advertising. Myself, I haven't put much effort into it yet, I am super busy at work and with the kids.

*Very* cool link, Michelle. I am going to pass it along in another forum I belong to.

Although I should drive up and smack you - like I need another place to shop.

Ok. As long as you have a plan. :) Have you looked into what you would need to do to get a booth at a craft show? Do you have any of those locally or sort of locally? I've seen really cute things for little girls (not these dresses, but other stuff) at craft fairs in the past. They always seem to sell very well. The only thing is you would need to have a goodly sized stock on hand. (and be willing to do special orders too.) If you do go that route, try to sock away some of the money you make selling them this way. Then you won't be out anything when you need to buy supplies to make a big batch of them. And look for places you can buy in bulk! I know you're in Canada, but check

and see what the shipping is like from them. I've found tremendous deals in their "sampler clubs." Like 7" nylon zippers (just right for a fly) in different colors. 40 of them for $3. And they are just as good as any other zippers I've ever found.

Ok. A little off track. But I really want you to do Very Well on the biz road. ;)

No, no, NOOO -- it's perfectly okay to post a link to the store as long as it's not your store and you are not mentioning that -- but at any rate, it's also okay to post a link to your own store if someone asks, especially if you are a regular poster.

Wow! What an awesome zipper deal!

Unfortunatley it costs around $300 dollars at craft fairs around here for a table, which I just don't have right now. Otherwise there is the sunday flea market, only one in this city, where tables are only about $20, but I am not sure the crowds it attracks are what I am looking for. One day I might try, just to find out, but for now my best option is probably online, and I have some space at a store in the country that sells alot of handmade stuff, I have to make some clothes for there too now that spring is coming. Crocheted (?) baby ponchos did quite well for me there.

Thanks for the link!

Once I ordered a handmade item from somewhere and when it came there was a small two page Black & White catalog listing other things and illustrations this person made and sold. So, if you "always" made certain items, this might be an idea and list an expiration date on your catalog. (current date at the top of the paper with an expiration date as to prices listed at the bottom---these prices good until 12/31/06.) Couldn't hurt! Barbara in SC
