Oooohh! I'm so jealous! One day I'll make a dress just like that for me. ;-) That looks again lovely and your green silk stays are just the thing to create more envy. ;-))

You'd love sewing with Su. She and I work together like you and I do. One day you'll have to join us for a frock fest. :)

Nice! The Fray Stoppa hardly shows at all on the pinked edges, that dress will be glorious when done.

I'll have to look for Fray Stoppa, I have always used Fray Check.

We used it because it was more flexible when dried, showed less, and was easier to apply in a thinner line.

Once the rest of the eye candy is on it, there will be enough of a distraction that the glue won't be noticed. :)

I think you will be getting it. :)

I'd love to, but not in the very near future. I've been terribly busy this week, helping my dad getting his exhibition set up. As you probably remember, he turned 80 last autumn, had a kidney with tumor removed that summer, and his eyesight has deteriorated massively so that he got a new lense; yet he undertook the adventure once more to go for a solo exhibition this year, titled 'Installations - works from 40 years'. Don't be deceived by the title, eight of the 28 works are brand new. And really good, I think.

Anyway, I transported some of these works of art, hung them in the gallery (the old 17th century gatehouse of a neo-classical manor destroyed in WW II), and made all the labels and the price list on my computer for him. This all took up a lot of time and so I had DD settled at DSIL. On the morning after her return home, DD had a tantrum over some minor thing she wasn't allowed to do which lasted for half an hour at least. I swore I'd never leave that child so long in DSIL's care ever again. Spoilt rotten! Whenever she shows up at her aunt's, DD's the boss. No had become an inkhorn term for her; not exactly the best experience for a three-year old. Well, no other babysitter available, DM busy with the exhibition, too; so I have to be grateful for what I get. But I can't think of a better example for 'well meant isn't necessarily well done'.

But back to the exhibition: Yesterday was the 'grand' opening and all went well. DF works look like they were made for the place. Old oak wood, wrought iron, coarse linnen coated with paint - impressive! I'll post pics later.

My next project is to get ready for week of seaside camping with DD before Kindergarten starts on 10. August. I ordered a tent with two 'rooms' and an LED lamp; gotta take the car to the mechanics for checking some oil leakage. Been there today and they said that the guy who had diagnosed the leakage wasn't there and they couldn't tell how bad it was since they hadn't seen it before. Better come back after vacation. At least there's no danger, even on a long drive, so they assured me. Well, grrr...

DSIL's B-day is on 1. August and I wanted to make a homewear jacket for her from lana cotta. Didn't get too far yet, but I plan to use this pattern

since DSIL is about my size (bigger bust, less stomach, same height) Ithink I can fit it for me and then give it to her. Fabric's here sinceNovember 2008. However, I think I'll leave that for Christmas; better getthe household into shipshape before leaving for vacation. And I promised to fix a toy, a rocking swan, from toddlers playgroup as a thank you for the time there; the bloody thing rocks a little too well so that more than once the kids toppled over. I'll just attach some 'water' to the sides so that the curve of the skids (?) gets a little less round but longer. That should be done by Thursday, but I'm not sure I'll make it.

Oh, the guy from the repair shop called to tell me that my machine is as good as fixed once the part arrives which will be about mid-August. I said thanky, and thought that he'll never see me again once I've got my machine back.

That's that, so much for frocking and frolicking.

Power to the Old Folks! Well done him! Pass on my regards and good wishes for the exhibition.

Oh, dear... She's going to find it hard to learn that different houses have different house rules. Luckily for me, my mum and both sisters put up wiith even less nonsesne than I do! ;)

Ooooh, yes please!

Doh!

That sounds like a well loved toy.

There's slow, and then there's plate tectonics... We've seen dead dinosaurs move faster than this one!

Oh, well... Take some on holiday! Camping is when you need a hand crank... (Hides behind swan)

No, no machine! I wouldn't enjoy fiddling with the handcrank; no idea how folks ever could work with one. But I have to admit that I plan to take my knitwork with me, plus a good book (don't know which...).
