future projects

Well I took the advice given here about just coming right out and asking the sizes for my dear friend (and all her children!). She kept trying to figure out what I was going to do and kept telling me that I was

*not* going to buy the kids clothes. Then I asked for her size and her DHs size....that put her on guard a bit. She knows that I sew, so she asked me just what I had up my sleeves. I wouldn't tell her, and it was kind of funny to listen to her keep guessing. I *did* tell her that she might not get them until January or thereabouts, which made her laugh....she had told me that I had enough on my plate and that she didn't want me doing anything for them while I was adjusting to having a new baby...she's a sweet lady.

Anyway, now I have to go throw patterns and take a look at my options, then price fabric and get to work.....I have started working on my Floral Flamingo quilt....I have to cut out 672 2.5 inch squares, then cut them diagonally...yes, 1344 triangles...I don't even think I've gotten 1/4 of them done, but I already need a break .

Thanks again for the no-brainer suggestion that i somehow couldn't come up with on my own!! LOL

Hi Larisa, Regarding your quilt, I once read a very simple way to make little triangles if they are going to be joined together again to squares. I haven't seen your quilt pattern but these quilters have shortcuts for everything. 2.5 inches is pretty little. By the way I just bought a large wheel rotary cutter and it is alot of fun. It is not one on the best (read:none to sharp) but seems to do the trick. I am starting a denim quilt. Keep in mind that newborn babies sleep most of the day (mine did in any case) so you may manage to get some things done. Tell everybody it is your way to relax!!!
