I wouldn't do more than 5 percent or maybe even 2 percent per month without checking my state's statutes on usury. But then I try to draw wide lines to steer clear of the law.d

However, as I understand it, this has already been delinquent for several(?) months, so probably compounding the 2% or 2.5% would be perfectly legal. And Larisa, your revised contract should specify "payment in full on day of delivery". Period, full stop.

True. But I am pretty sure that 10% per month would be considered usury in any state.

Or, you could claim to be a "Pay Day Lender"... :-(

And not paying for the desired project is, what? Larceny?

This suggestion is for a last ditch attempt to get the cash. I don't care what it's called in someone's locality. And I've had plenty of wacky contracts (and post-event requirements), some thrust under my own nose.

If 10% extra is "too high" for you, lower it. Geeze Louise!

ROTFHSHIWMP!!!!! I get it "Accounts not paid within 30 days will be charged a convenience fee of . . . . "

My children still don't believe me when I tell them what the APR is of the interest rates of those places, which have proliferated around our lower-middle-class neighborhood (which borders to the unofficial barrio of our suburb).

Theft, but that doesn't mean you can cheat them just as well.

I was just mentioning it in case the OP (Larissa?) took you literally and the person who did the hit-and-run on her services got even madder and tried to take her to court. I don't know about you, but I lead a "charmed life" and whenever I (only inadvertently these days) do something that runs afoul of the law, I get El Kabonged for it in spades

Why? What's the local bank base rate? Go with that...

apparently not, or credit card companies couldn't get away with thier 29.99% APRs (which they are thinking of allowing to go up to 35%!!!) now THAT is usury, especially since the high rate cards are peddled to those that can least afford them :p i just canned 3 cards because the rates went over 14.99%, which is already pretty redeculous. it's just 'borrowing trouble'. lee

My state (OR) legislature is in the process of holding hearing to limit the amount of interest those creeps can charge. They are worse than the mob. Talk about taking advantage of the poor... Ugh!

Even that is still right under 3% per month, not 10%.

what I'm still trying to figure out is whether OP let the dress go without full payment. If she still has the dress, just sell it on ebay and be done with it. If she let the dress go without full payment, well let's just say she should know better.

The wedding is over, and the dress was in it.

It's bad enough to welch on your debts, but to call and mock the creditor takes a whole different caliper of crazy person.

In article , small change of uttered

I think that since it was a bridesmaid dress for a wedding that took place in March, you can assume she did. You can also assume that, since the bride was some connection or other from *church* of all places, the groom's entire family should have had a whip-round and paid her by now (it's his sister). So much for Christian family values and decency, is all I can say.
