Glow in the Dark Thread

Hello,

I'm looking for a trustworthy (internet) U.S. supplier of Glow in the Dark thread to use for Halloween sewing projects. I have not seen it in Hancock's or JoAnn's, only on-line at various sites. Has anyone ever ordered from Carey's Town & Country in Indiana or Creative Sewing Machines in North Carolina? What has your experience been with these companies, if any?

TIA, Brenda

Hi Brenda,

I don't know anything about the stores you mentioned, but Homesew has glow-in-the-dark thread. I've been thinking of ordering some the next time I send in a Homesew order. I've always been satisfied with them for price and service. No affiliation, just passing on my experience.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

I am assuming it is used for machine embroidery and it wouldn't show up in ordinary seams? Joy

It's rather pricey to use as just regular thread, it is for embellishment. You have to be careful with it; no hot irons, don't toss the finished garment in a hot dryer, no bleach, there's instructions with the thread when you order it.

I don't know either of the thread shops you mention. I am, however, a Hoosier. :) Where is the shop in Indiana? If it's close to me, I'll go take a look and dutifully file a report. :)

Far and away my favorite online thread shop is

Their prices are very reasonable, their service is great and they ship fast. :) I am always surprised to go to the mailbox and find the thread already there. (now, that's quick.) I've not looked for glow in the dark thread, but I'm betting they will have it. NAYY.

Connecting Threads has a glow in the dark thread. They call it Glow Bug. Here it is on their website.

Helm Street according to their website.

Considering the responses I've gotten so far from others in the

Brenda,

It's about an hour or so north of Indy. Indy is about 2 1/2 hours from me. :( I don't think I will be cruising in there any time soon. (Rats and Phooey!! A new sewing shop is always a wonderful thing. lol)

Glad the Uncommon Thread link might be helpful to you. If you order from them, they will send you a catalog with your order. The color charts they send in the print catalog are GREAT!! I've never had them not be accurate when I match colors to fabric with the charts. I have no clue how they print the colors that accurately, but they did it somehow. :) I don't buy much thread anywhere else any more.

If I get up north, I will check out Carey's and let everyone know what I find. :) I do have a good friend in Muncie, and that's not far from there.... lol

I don't know if it's any help, but I just saw some glow in the dark thread yesterday at Hancocks in Michigan, USA (Detroit area) in a bin for 50% off). Did somebody say, does it only show up in embroidered areas or on regular seams also? Joy
