just won one

I just received that RD book about 2 weeks ago.definately a great sewing *reference* book for all levels i imagine. It would be on the top of my list if i had list of books to cite (only 3-4 at present).

I also have the "Singer Sewing Book" another great *reference* book but the RD book pretty much covers just about everything the Singer book covers and more. So that is why RD is at top of my list. I will have to do a side by side comparison some-night :)

Forgot another great reference book suggested in alt.sewing that i purchased , "Claire Schaeffer's : Fabic Sewing Guide". All this book talks about is many different types of fabrics, their names, the qualities of the fabric, suggested uses for the fabric, the weaves, some pictures and how to sew with those fabrics using needle/thread sizes etc.

Thanks from me as well ! all these books were suggested books from alt.sewing,

I just wanted to add, any of Claire's books are a good addition to a garment sewing library. I have several of her books. I was also lucky enough to get to attend a class with her a few years back. She really is amazing. Tiny little woman with an Amazing textile archive in her mind that she generously shares with anyone who will listen. :)
