Hi!
I've been sculpting portraits, the nude and separate drapery studies for about two years now, so I'd like to try my hand at the neoclassical, with a fully draped figure in the classical fashion.
While I understand that drapery really is merely a compositional tool, and historical accuracy or even any logic at all with regards to the wearing of a garment that forms long drapes is not necessary; for my first attempt, I would still like to keep to the traditional dress of the greeks.
What I could find on the web described a chiton, sometimes with a himation of chalmydon overtop; but little more than brief descriptions and line drawings or photos of antique statuary. Do you know of more specific plans, or as it looks simple enough for words to suffice, a description of these articles' manufacture and wearing more thorough than the 2 sentences I've found thus far?
thanks for your help! -Bernard Arnest
