Ha ha! The wardrobe's on the move!

Yippeeee doodle! The big ugly ole wardrobe on my landing is off to school at last! Yes, I'm sending a 1948 vintage wardrobe out to get an eddication! ;)

It's the one taking up too much of my landing space, blocking a window and squatting on the bit of floor reserved for my treadle machine. Today Robert rang up and arranged to come and collect it next Tuesday morning. It and the costumes are off where they belong, and the treadle will be out of the dining room by the time I have guests for the May bank Holiday weekend! Now, where am I going to house the posh fabric it also contains... Oh, only a small problem, really!

Well done on freeing up some space. I wish I could! Why not put the posh fabric up in the loft with the rest of the stash?? Or would that just be the last straw?

I have to bag and waterproof everything that goes up there: while it IS 'weather' proof, it gets very hot in summer and very cold in winter, as well as damp, and occasionally birds get in... It's the sort of roof that sits on top with a breathing space round the edges! The posh fabric originally cost anything up to £100 m, so I don't really want to put it up there if I can store it somewhere better.

Shoo wee!! No you don't want to put that up in the attic. That's fabric you want where it will be safe, but more importantly ---- where you can pet and fondle it when you want without fighting up the attic stairs!!! lol (Our attic stairs are the kind that fold down. DH can fold and unfold them quite easily. I have to go get the teenaged boy that lives next door then the two of us have to wrestle with them to get the stinking things to close! lol)

I'm so glad you were able to free up some space. I understand just how you feel. When something is just taking up far too much space, it makes me nuts. And if I know company is coming to stay, it just makes me more crazy than it should. So I'm thrilled you will get that out before your friends get there for their visit! :)

I can usually manage the loft ladder ok, but struggling up and down it with a roll of silk ain't my idea of fun! The friends have all seen the wardrobe in it's present position plenty of times, but with 9 folks wanting to sit round the dinner table, there isn't room for the treadle, so it has to move... Moving anything in my house is a bit like a Chinese tile puzzle... Before you move one thing, 9 others have to be shifted in order! AAAARGH!
