Heads Up!

I just received my sale flyer form TSWLTH, they are offering VOGUE(!) patterns for $3.99 each on May 18-19-20. Limit of 10.

NAYY,

Beverly, who just loves seeing Vogues go on sale.

Lisa, it is fashionable by some in this NG to knock Jo-Ann fabrics and if some had their way, it would be institutionalized here. However, most will visit Jo-Ann stores stores and make up their own minds, fortunately.

Origin was was perceived "slights" by some sewing prima donnas here by a local store clerk who didn't share their self-importance: anecdotal evidence used to condemn an entire company!

Besides having many stores and fabrics, they are known for their charitable work locally and nationally. A Google with "Jo-Ann Fabrics" and "charity" will get you almost 74,000 "hits".

I have no affiliation with Jo-Ann Fabrics.

ROTFLAHMGO (that's "and hacking my guts out" because I have bronchitis and that's exactly what I would be going if I was laughing that hard)

It was a JOKE, silly.

Not to mention that quite a few people here have worked at a Jo-Ann's at some time in the past, and perhaps even currently. My own step-daughter worked at one for a couple of years. There are lots of stories from these employees and former employees, as well as customers.

The fact is, these stores can vary depending on the manager and his or her attitude, expertise, experience and management style. The corporation is not so interested in that sort of thing, as far as anyone can tell. They, like most large corporations, are only interested in revenue.

So, try your local Jo-Ann's and if you are satisfied, patronize them. If not, look for another or for a competitor. If you are really, really lucky, you'll have some choices.

Although the name is similar, I have no association with Jo-Ann's, not even stock.

I do not particularly care for Jo-Anns or Walmart, but what are you going to do?

The nearest place to purchase fabric here is Wal-Mart, and that is 30 miles one way.. The next available place would be Jo-Anns (there are 2 in town, one is really terrible and very DIRTY, and the other is similar to a "Michaels", mostly craft supplies), and they are 60 miles one way.. If I want to go to a Hancocks, I have to drive 100+ miles one way, and with the cost of gas these days.....

I have occasionally purchased fabric over the internet, with somewhat mixed results.. When you live out in the country, you generally have few choices regarding where you shop. There are just not the small fabric shops that there used to be, nor are there the five & dime stores either (some of which had a pretty good fabric department)

You have to find one that will send you swatches.

Try fashionfabrics.com. Once you have ordered from it, you will receive swatches from it for about a year. Most fabrics are nice, and it often has good sales.

They send swatches; last month, I was looking for matching fabric to two pieces I had. I sent them swatches of the ones I had, they were so nice and after an exchange of e-mails, they sent me exactly what I needed. Emily

Anyone remember "Imaginations" that was in Massachusetts? I bought fabric from them (mail order) for years. Whoever picked their fabrics had fabulous taste.... oh do I miss them. :(
