Hello and a request for help

(also posted on rec.crafts.textiles.sewing)

I'm here to ask for help. If I sewed as much now as I did in my younger days, I might have found y'all before this.

This is the situation. We are moving. Now is the time to get rid of all that stuff that one puts at the back of the closet, in the basement, in the attic, etc. Well, I'm looking at four sewing machines. I'll be keeping the Viking and my Grandmother's treadle.

I've found a place that will tear down and dispose of the other two (old portable Singers). My question is does anyone know of a charitable situation that would be interested in them. I'd hate to toss them and find out later that they could have been useful.

If you have a FAQ that answers this, point me at it. BTW, I'm in Minnesota, the TC area, if that is a help.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Pam

Give them to the local Salvation Army, post them on your FREECYCLE list, or donate them to a local Women's shelter.

"Kitty In Somerset, PA"...

I'm in Minnesota, as I said. They need very minor repairs, for which I'm willing to pay. The oldest is my 1966 portable Singer with which I went to college; being a Home Ec Textiles/Business major, I needed this to go to college.

Both machines have their full compliment of extraneous equipment.

If you know any young people in highschool or college they might want them.

Have you thought about offering it on Craig's List?
