Help Embroidery Machine Please!!!!

Can some one please give me some guidances. I would lilke to get your opinion about the following embroidery machines, so I can deside which machine would be the best and easier to use for both, embroidery and quilting. What is good or bad about them.

  1. Bernina 185e With ArtLink software which doesn't support digitizing (only read and transfer design from computer to machine)
  2. Brother ULT2003d With the PE Design 5.0 software
  3. Janome MC10000 (plus upgrade to 10001)with the Digitazer 10000 software.
  4. Bernina 165e + CPS Artista Designer 4.0

All priced around US $5000

It's been said here before, the best machine is the one you (or the person who will be using it) finds the most comfortable - sewing the type of things you will be sewing. Bring fabric swatches with you when you go to try them out. Since the software can be an integral part of embroidery - if you want to do more than sew pre-digitized designs - you should try the software as well. Decide what you would like to embroider and talk to the dealers about the features of each program to see if it can do what you want. But remember once you get started you might do a lot more than you had anticipated. And equally important, you are also investing in the dealer. The ones that are reluctant to give you all the pre-sale support to help you buy the right machine isn't going to be any better after they have your money, so if you are shopping at multiple dealers that can be a deciding factor.

I'm a real fan of Brother. DOn't have the one you're considering, but I have an 8500 and can't say enough nice things about it. Also, Brother is very big in the embroidery market -- even making many of the other brands. I'm counting on them knowing what they're up to.

I went through this "nightmare" decision making exercise last fall. After going through the trials of the processof elimination, the only contenders were between the Viking Designers and the Pfaff. I decided upon the Pfaff because of their integrated dual feed. I do A LOT of quilting, and you just can't beat that dual feed system. There isn't one add-on attachment that can even come close to the Pfaff system. It was a choice between the 7570 and the 2140. Basically, the one thing going for the 2140 was the use of the 3.5" floppy disk rather than the media cards that the others use. However, the 7570 was about $2000.00 cheaper and I had to consider the overall cost as well.

That's my story....and I'm stickin' to it!

Good luck! Merilynn

Yes, Merilynn, I love my Pfaff 7560, which doesn't have the IDF, but I have a non-computerized Pfaff that does and it is great for curtains, any quilting I might do, etc. My DD has the 7570 and she loves it, too, but she would have nothing to do with the 2140 after trying it out last year. I've been thinking of upgrading to it, and she keeps telling me I'd be foolish to do so.. Emily
