Help finding military knitters

Hello everyone,

I am a knitter - but also a journalist for CBS News. I spend a lot of time in war zones - mostly recently Iraq - and knit while on assignment to help cope with stress.

Recently, my online yarn supplier - seeing that I was writing to order from Baghdad - asked if I'd write an article for their newsletter about others who knit in conflict zones. Could I, they asked, get in touch with other military knitters?

I've had limited success tracking down women (or men) who knit while on active service, or those who knit as part of rehabilitation when they get home.

Can anyone help me track down people who fit the bill? I just want them to tell me in a short email what, when and how they knit.

Any idea if there's a good widely read knitting notice board where I could post an appeal?

Best wishes to all for the start of the holiday season.

Maybe you should issue a request in the Army Times, Navy Times, etc. Those are weekly newspapers widely circulated in the services, out of Northern Virginia I think. You might try Stars and Stripes, too. I think that one is published in Darmstadt, Germany. NAYY.
