Help- I can't get the needle out of my machine

I have a Brother ULT2004 - I've had it a year but it was a year old when I got it. I love it - it stitches beautifully.

For the last few months I've been having a REALLY hard time getting the needle out so I could change it. It has started to take me hours and now I can't even get this one out at all. I've already broken it (like I did the last few).

I've gone thru the manual and it shows to wiggle the end of the needle in 4 directions and then just pluck it out. I have wiggled and wiggled and I'm even now tugging on it with pliers with all my strength. I can't get it out.

Anyone have any ideas - is there some sort of trick with this machine that I don't know about. I'm using (and have always used) Organ needles.

Please - any ideas?

I have the ULT 2002D----But I have not had that problem. If pliers won't pull it out you had better take it to a shop that works on them, I think. Maybe there is something jammed in the hole along with the needle that is causing the trouble??

Weird. Is there some sort of needle clamp you need to loosen off first? All my machines have a screw at the side which you tighten / loosen to hold the needle / release the needle.

Those use a pin between the needle set screw and the needle in that looooooong shaft on the right of the needle clamp. It is common for those to crack. Look it over very close you might see it. If that is the case you really should see your dealer as the entire needle bar must be replace and that is no easy task.

I'll do that. I've removed the set screw and poked about down the shaft with a pin just to feel around in there. You must be right (and Pat) and I'll have to take it in. I was hoping to be able to change one last needle as I'm in the middle of a project. The needles have become progressively more difficult to change with this one seemingly impossible to change - although the last couple were horrid as well. I think the repair person comes thurs to the town that I live nearest. Although I'm betting the machine will be in for a bit if it needs parts.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

Ring 'em up, explain the problem, provide a model number. Bet they can get the spare part by Thursday, and fix on the spot.
