Hi, I am new to this group and delighted to have found it. I have always done basic sewing with a very old Singer machine but I would like to get some advice before I tackle my latest project. I have a Berber full length coat that I would like to shorten. I have never worked with anything this heavy before and I am looking for any tips that could make this project a little easier. This coat is lined and machined hemmed. I will have to cut off about 8 inches on the length and 4 inches on the sleeves. Would it be easier to just do this by hand? I don't think that I could get all of the fabric under my presser foot ! Any help would be greatly appreciated.............Thank you.......Linda
