Hubris

The glare and night vision warnings were what scared me off as well. I finally grew accustomed to the halos around lights at night when I wore contacts, but I couldn't see having "stars" as well.

In addition to pretty severe myopia, I have astigmatism. You should see me try to hang a picture without using a level. ;-}

I call ours the dishwashmachine. After all, every house has a dishwasher. Some houses have dishwashmachines, and some houses have dishwashpeople, both of which can correctly be called a dishwasher.

We always used to like to joke about opening a store like a laundromat but called a dishwashomat. You take your dishes there and there are people and commercial dishwashers to make the job easier.

I told my ophthalmologist that for reading, computer, and other close work, I just take off my glasses. He thought about that for a minute, and replied, "I take my glasses off when working at my desk." Ha! It's very, very common for us nearsighted folk to prefer our natural eyes to using the bottom of bifocals. As long as whatever we're looking at is close.

I give in again.

What's Lasik?

It's a type of laser surgery to correct vision in nearsighted people. If you have dry eye syndrome you don't want it. It can cause vision loss. Juno

Ah, yes, we have it here but I haven't heard it called Lasik. Thanks.

I thought it must be something to do with cataracts! I'm not near-sighted anyway and don't have dry eye syndrome so it looks as though I'm OK :-)

"Dish grinder" here... in honor of a commercial dishwasher long ago that went berserk and started slamming racks of dishes back and forth with great vigor...

Gosh!

Yes, I've been using them for a VERY long time - but it's always nicer to get a definition from a real person, preferably the one who used the word, rather than going over his/her head :-)

You'd better muffle so they don't hear you. You would be in soooo much trouble. ;) I was shunned for a day just for typing the story here. lol Just now she was laying on my lap, "nibbling" on my wrists. I think she was worried I would share more embarrassing stories about her. But really, that is the A #1 Tickles story. Can't top it so far. ;) And I think she's past her wild and crazy days. (turned 15 in August.)

lol I told her she was a poor moglet. She told me that was reason enough to break out the kitty treats. ;)

Alan gets all the really fun adventures. Poor guy. That sounds like something that deserves hazardous duty pay. ;)
