I learned how to put in gussets!

I'm doing some costuming and there are Tudor sailor shirts, very easy to make, but they have gussets at the collar and under the sleeve. I have avoided these and fly closures all my sewing life, but had to bite the bullet and learn. They weren't so hard after all. Go figure.

Moral of the story, at least for me, is to stop avoiding those things you aren't comfortable trying.

Needs must and all that! ;) Well done! Flies are just as easy once you get going...

I did two flies when my first son (now 29) was younger. Nope, won't do them again. :)

I once had a hang-up about welted pockets... Then I made 27 waistcoats, each with two welted pockets on the front, in a week. Welted pockets? phooo - easy-peasy! It's just getting over the hump that is hard!
