I'm back!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know I had my surgery, (uterine cancer) Sept 25 and the onc said I'm doing well and no further Treatment is necessary. I do have to go back in three months for a followup, probably going to do that for a year or more, just in case.

I do still have to be careful of the incision which isn't quite healed yet and still gives me a bit if stinging pain, due to stretching the scar tissue when I bend I think. so I'm still wearing a belly (elastic) band which they gave me in the hosp which I am using to prevent to much stretching. it helps a little.

I guess I'll be back to watching babies soon, I miss them but hubby and I think I should just take them on for a couple days a week, maybe

3 at most after I get built up and have my strength back. That will give me some time that I'm free to do things for me.

Hurray for you! Hope you heal quickly. Be careful about lifting babies, though. Lifting anything heavy, as far as that goes.

Welcome back!! glad to hear everything went so well. Now it's your turn to be babied so take advantage of it for awhile. Start out real slow with a day and see how that goes before you take on to much. OF course the sewing machine, only if it's set up and doesn't need to moved at all, could probably use just a little tiny project. Nothing you have to strain to do, just some little fun job. Juno

It's great to have you back, Kitty and happy to know the surgery was successful. Just baby yourself for a while and take good care to let the incision heal completely before picking up babies or anything heavy. Emily

Good to see you back here. Take as much time as you need to heal properly (somehow, we just don't "bounce back" like we did at 21) and don't overdo anything.

Thanks everybody, I really appreciate knowing I have friends who are here for me.

I'll be careful. Can you believe it's seven weeks on tuesday since I had my surgery. I'm giving it a week, then I'm planning to take the boys for two hours tuesday and thursday the next week so I can see How I do. If I can do that without being worn out the next day or hurting, I'll try a whole day the next week. I'm taking it real easy. the doc said I could cheat a little but I'm still being real careful. I held the baby a bit today, even picked him up and so far so good, but I only had him for a half hour. then I got to hold a newborn, which I am allowed to hold cause she was less than ten pounds. LOL she was one of twins that Aubrey's old room mate had a couple months ago. she was real cuddly.

I have two sewing machines set up, but I need to clean around them so I can sew. Bill will set me up another if I want. He keeps buying them for me. I wish I had a place to put them.

I need some petticoats and another skirt or two. I'm COLD!!!

Well, that's all for now. It's so nice to have friends like you all. thanks everyone.

oops, I forgot to tell you. they told me in the hospital that my blood sugar was up. they gave me insulin after every meal. then after I got out, I had some blood test and now my Family doctor says I have diabetes. I've lost 30 pounds since august, but I doubt it's enough to get my blood sugar down. Everytime I check it it is over a hundred and sometimes over 140. So, now I have something else to worry about. Ain't life fun? Kitty

Congratulations, I hope all continues to go well on that front.

Be very careful about overdoing. You will be tempted to pick up the babies, and that cannot be a good idea until your incision is completely healed.

Good luck,

Beverly

I'm sure your doctor will provide good info on dealing with diabetes. MY DH and I found a consultation with a dietitian invaluable. For a long time he was able to control his glucose levels with diet alone, later he had to inject insulin. I don't think weight loss alone will be the only solution.

Hello Kitty,

I don't know you but I'm pleased for you. I'm a 10 year survivor of breast cancer surgery and in February I'll have the last follow-up, it's been so long because I've been taking part in a huge international research programme.

What struck me most about your post was your report of stinging pain. It's a small price to pay for life but it will get better although it might continue in a different form for ever, the nerves have been damaged and might not re-connect so odd feelings are the norm. Don't worry about them! While you hurt you live :-)

Hugs,

Mary

I think that that is what the cinnamon I'm taking is for. Fortunately, sugar (in reason) hasn't been outlawed yet, so I can have it in a mug of cocoa. Mostly I take cinnamon balls: equal parts of cinnamon and cocoa in enough unsweetened peanut butter to stick it together. Surprisingly un-bitter, but it's nicer taken with a mostly-sugar calcium chew.
